Compensation: $35.00 and $40.00* per hour for qualified professionals with their own gear who meet on-site daily. About the role: At Professional Tree Care, our Climbers serve as the field-based leaders of their crews. They direct production, communicate with Project Managers, heavy equipment operators, grounds people, operations managers, clients, and of course, they climb on a daily basis.
Requirements: - You are CURRENTLY WORKING AS A PROFESSIONAL TREE CLIMBER or have been doing so in the past year.**
- You have your own gear and can list the brands and types
- You have your own transportation to local and remote job sites that may be in a forest and/or otherwise unreachable by public transportation or car service
- Climbing experience = minimum of two years ; increased hourly rate for certifications and deep knowledge of climbing and the tree care industry
- Physically fit and able to handle chainsaws at distances of between 20’ and 120’ in the air
- Able to pass a physical exam, background check, and able to lift 50 pounds
- Able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
- Pay rate will be based primarily on your knowledge, tree-related experience, supervisory experience, and any certifications including ISA Certified Tree Worker, TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional, or Certified (Climbing) Arborist
Bonus points for - Clean CA driver’s license without points (from speeding, DUIs, etc.)
- Extensive safety training experience and/or leadership coursework
- Speaking Spanish and/or knowing tree care-related words in Spanish
The work you’ll do: - Serve on our Climbing team by climbing trees using a variety of systems
- Ensure that work is done safely and efficiently on every job while meeting daily production numbers
- Remove hazardous trees and trim trees as outlined in our contracts
- Work alongside our Certified Arborists/Estimators to ensure you’re installing cables, bracing systems, and lightning protection systems as outlined in our contracts
Compensation and Benefits: $35.00 to $40.00 per hour** This higher pay range is only for Climbers who drive themselves to each job site and clock in at the site. Since you’ll be using your own vehicle and gas, the hourly pay is set higher to accommodate those costs. In other words, your hourly rate may be higher than colleagues who are driving/riding in a company vehicle.
- Paid Medical, Dental, and Optical. PTC provides a 50% contribution toward these. You may also purchase insurances for your legal dependents

If you are NOT CURRENTLY A CLIMBER but would like to become one, apply for our Grounds-person-to-Climber Apprenticeship, since it provides paid on-the-job training. Entry-level Grounds-person positions pay $20.00 per hour.
