Overview:

We are looking for a highly motivated Staff Embedded System Software Engineer to join our Consumer Electronics Product Software team at TP-Link Systems Inc.

As the project lead, you will collaborate with hardware, algorithm, and other teams to bring products to market. In this role, you will play a key role in defining product requirements, leading the software development process, and designing robust software solutions that prioritize a seamless user experience. You will manage feature implementation from the initial concept to final delivery, ensuring projects are completed on schedule. Additionally, you will serve as a mentor to junior engineers, address complex technical challenges, and act as the primary point of contact for external partners. By staying up to date with industry trends and maintaining a deep technical understanding, you will drive the success of TP-Link’s smart home products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading assessment, definition and architecture of innovative product with cross-functional teams
  • Leading Software Development through life cycle from design to production of TP-Link Smart Home devices
  • Manage multiple projects and tasks in parallel, ensuring smooth and efficient execution
  • Architect complex embedded software systems, ensuring they meet performance, security, and reliability requirements.
  • Conduct performance analysis and optimize system performance, memory usage, and power consumption.
  • Participating in the architecture design process and troubleshooting of live applications with the product teams
  • Troubleshoot and debug hardware-software integration issues and ensure reliable system performance.
  • Contribute insights to the overall technical strategy and roadmap.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks, proposing innovative solutions to complex problems
  • Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies in embedded systems and apply them to ongoing projects.
  • Conduct meticulous code reviews and provide mentorship to junior developers, ensuring strict adherence to coding standards and industry best practices.
  • Mentor and guide Senior engineers, providing technical leadership and sharing best practices through code reviews and team collaboration.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • 8+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • Proficiency in embedded software programming using C/C++, with a strong understanding of coding best practices.
  • Strong technical background in embedded Linux and RTOS, with a deep understanding of software architecture and design principles.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to think strategically and act tactically.
  • Proven track record of leading full product lifecycle delivery for a range of consumer electronics products, from concept through to successful market launch.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment
  • Passion for writing clean code and creating world-class software, with a commitment to adhering to best practices and standards in software development
  • Experience leading the design, build and deployment of complex and performant (reliable and scalable) software solutions in production
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, ensuring clear and concise communication of technical concepts and ideas
  • Experience in mentoring senior engineers and leading cross-functional teams to achieve ambitious technical goals.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in managing embedded software projects that integrate across various hardware platforms, ensuring seamless hardware-software interaction.
  • Expertise in wireless communication protocols (e.g., Wi-Fi, Zigbee, Bluetooth) and IoT standards.
  • Expertise in video and audio encoding (AVC, HVEC, OPUS, etc) and streaming (WebRTC, RTP, RTSP, etc.) technologies.
  • Strong background in optimizing embedded systems for scalability, low power consumption, and high performance in real-world applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive product innovation through the application of emerging technologies and industry best practices.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and certifications for consumer electronics, particularly in smart home products.

Salary range: $140,000 - $200,000
