Associate/Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing Department: Athletics Office - 120000
Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in sports management, business administration, or a related field. Degrees in other fields will be considered if the candidate has relevant experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with progressively increasing responsibility in a collegiate athletic athletics department.
- Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations with a personal commitment to operate within those rules is required.
- Experience working with an athletics department and sports marketing departments.
- Customer service and management experience.
- Must be available to cover full athletics event schedules, which may include managing the marketing staff, working consecutive nights and weekends and during tournaments, and traveling to away events as necessary.
License/Certification Required Preferred Qualifications - Master's Degree
- 5+ years of experience with progressively increasing responsibility in a collegiate athletic athletics department.
- Experience leading a marketing staff
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and handle many tasks at once
- Experience producing a detailed run of show at large events
- Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact comfortably and effectively with both internal and external clients at all levels of the organization
- Ability to work well in a team environment and to have leadership skills
- Experience with the Paciolan ticketing system
Essential Duties and Responsibilities App State Athletics is seeking a motivated, passionate, and service-oriented individual to become the
Assistant or Associate Athletic Director for Marketing. This position will report directly to the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Revenue Generation.
This individual will need to use skills as a seasoned, experienced intercollegiate athletics professional with a full understanding of collegiate marketing operations , as well as campus/department policies and procedures, to plan, administer, and coordinate the daily operations of these complex programs.
Some key responsibilities of this role include the opportunity to:
- Direct responsibility for all marketing and promotional campaigns, brand development, and game entertainment for the athletics programs and shoulder initiatives in support of the mission of the App State Athletics Department
- Direct responsibility and management of all elements for football and basketball (marketing, budgeting, promotions, sales, brand exposure), and supervision of director's and assistant director's marketing and promotion initiatives at the remaining sports
- Primary day-to-day marketing contact for Sports Productions, Multi-Media Rights partner; Game Operations, Mountaineers Athletic Fund, and Strategic Communications
- In coordination with senior administration and the ticket office, develop group, season, and single-game ticket strategies and campaigns for ticketed sports to meet department wide financial objectives and goals
- Oversee initial concept and management in the design and distribution of all promotional material
- Further optimize the use of Paciolan ticketing system and CRM database. To include enhancement of PACMail, mobile ticketing advertising, and partnering platforms
- Continuation of grassroots marketing efforts, in addition to developing a digital media advertising and promotional strategy to maximize the return on investment, thus creating a culture of making data-driven decisions
- Develop innovative methods to reach new fans while engaging and retaining the existing fan base through ticket sales and Mountaineers Athletics Club memberships
- Continue to cultivate on campus relationships to drive student and faculty/staff attendance
- Provide a superior level of customer service to ensure a positive experience for all patrons to promote App State Athletics
- Athletic Department liaison to App State Marching Band
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required
- May be required to assist with non-athletics events as needed
Work Schedule/Hours: Varies, nights & weekends
